Cop probers yet to find suspect in guard’s murder

POLICE have yet to detain any suspect in the brutal killing of a security guard at the Port Moresby Golf Club last week.
They had interviewed several people on duty when the murder occurred but had not found any leads.
It was learnt that the assailants, who were believed to be targeting the club’s collection from its weekly card draw, wore masks.
Security supervisor Eric Goya, 50, was shot dead when he tried to stop some men in the car park early Wednesday morning.
It was believed that up to 15 men tried to break into the club’s office before Goya, who was from Pila in Chuave, stumbled onto them.
The robbers had earlier overpowered a guard at the gate leading into the club’s premises.
The card draw had grown to more than K90,000, drawing many members and guests to the club on Tuesday evenings.
Security at the club had been stepped up since the incident.
