A family’s gratitude to Lae’s Task Force cops

NEARLY everyday we hear about police brutality or some other negative comments about the police.
However, I beg to differ and would like to thank the Task Force policemen who assisted my family last Oct 6.
My father and brother were held up at gun-point along the Unitech Road just past the Igam junction and everything they had was taken including our vehicle.
The Task Force unit that was on duty that day responded quickly but because of the bad state of the roads, the perpetrators got away and disabled the vehicle by taking the car battery and two tyres, probably hoping to return and cannibalise other parts to sell.
The policemen found our vehicle and assisted us to find whatever necessary, including a mechanic, for us to move the vehicle out of the bush and back home before the perpetrators came back to strip the vehicle.
Mind you, the sun had already set but they did not complain or hesitate until the job of moving the vehicle was completed.
This truly shows the professionalism and true commitment of our policemen. It definitely gave me a different image of the police.
These men are true blue policemen and my family and I sincerely thank the Task Force unit on duty last Oct 6 for a job well done.
