OC not an enemy, says Geno

MANY politicians and Government department heads see the Ombudsman Commission as their enemy even though it is only performing its constitutional duties, Chief Ombudsman Ila Geno said.
He said the commission was just like any other Government authority with a job to do.
The perception that the commission was the enemy must stop, he said during a meeting with the Enga provincial administration, council presidents and representatives from non-governmental organisation in Mt Hagen on Monday.
Mr Geno also said that parliamentarians were elected by the people to deliver services like health, education, roads and bridges.
He said that like public servants, the leaders’ main task was to serve the people if they wished to be respected and honoured.
