Mongniol Primary School celebrates National Education Week

MONGNIOL Primary School in East Sepik province last week joined schools throughout Papua New Guinea in celebrating the National Education Week.
More than 500 students from Grades 3-8 gathered to put on dramas, visual displays and songs to commemorate the day.
The school’s deputy principal Clement Walama told the students that education covered everything.
“Education starts from the village where young ones are being taught to hunt animals and catch fish, make gardens as well as other skills and knowledge.
“And that it does not mean learning take place only in classrooms.”
He said without education there would be no hope for anyone as he would not know what to do.
Mr Walama said education meant to learn new things whether it be at home, school or anywhere.
The theme for the 2007 National Education Week was Promoting Education through Vocational and Technical Skills.
