Fitting role for Finance
THE Department of Finance is leading
the way in working in healthy and fitter environment by taking
part in inter-department weekly sports competition at Holiday
Inn.
Launched by Secretary Gabriel Yer four weeks ago, the weekly
competition attracted six teams within the Department. The six
teams are playing in colours Blues, Orange, Yellow, Green Maroon
and White.
According to Wally Hiambohn from Finance Department, the
competition is basically to get the employees to interact with
each other. Many of the employees doesn’t know who their fellow
co-workers are.
“It is to get the employees to know each other. So to speak put
name to faces in such competition,” he said.
As of last Wednesday, Blues were leading on 10 points and are
heading towards picking up the winning prizes.
The inter department weekly sports only involve Mixed Teams in
soccer and volleyball ñ the two most favourite sports enjoyed by
working class people.
Apart from Finance, other departments who are involved in the
such inter-department sports are Health Department and Law and
Justice Sectors who often stage a one day sports day at the Sir
John Guise stadium.
Hiambohn said this is the first time the department of Finance
stage such weekly competition for its employee.
He added many employees are always looking forward for Wednesday
which is usually set aside for the competition.

out his skills as he led the Maroons to beat Orange in the game
of volleyball.
