Team Enga backed by its government

ENGA provincial government (EPG) has assured the Team Enga that they would fully support the team for the 3rd Papindo PNG Games which would be held in Lae next month.
According to the organising committee and coordinator for Team Enga Dian Moses, the preparation and training in various sports were undergoing smoothly.
Moses told The National yesterday form Wabag that the preparation and the training were progressing in various venues incorporated with different sports in which over 100 contingent would be sent for the games.
She said some of the sports that had already gone through the full phase of training included soccer, basketball, volleyball, athletics and touch footy.
Dian said Wabag Central had already organised teams for soccer, basketball and volleyball while other districts and Wabag secondary school were tasked to cater for athletics, rugby league 9s, touch footy, darts, netball and others.
ėWe are ready with almost all the sports like soccer, basket ball, volleyball, athletics and others in different venues. We have delegated duties and responsibilities to various district sports office to organise for various codes like athletics, netball, touch footy and so frothî, she said.
ėThe committee is working around the clock to ensure every thing is place as we look forward for our provincial government for their assistance.
ėThe government had not enclosed the sponsorship package yet but we hope they would come good as they always do it any sportî.
She added that Team Enga had performed well at 2nd PNG Games in 2005 in Goroka and this time they expected to reap more gold, bronze and silver.
One of their achievements was gold in women soccer and the Enga ladies proved they were heroes in PNG while they caused much upsets in the Arafura Games in Darwin earlier this year.
Dian predicted they would come in full swing to defend the title in different styles and look for more gold.
