Datec launches ICT expo

AN exposition on information and communication technology (ICT) solution and service providers will be held for the first time in Papua New Guinea at the Crowne Plaza in Port Moresby starting today.
Datec Ltd has the largest number of business partners in the ICT industry in PNG but more importantly these partnerships represent a “best of breed” offering.
“Also the quality of these relationships places Datec at the forefront of providing ICT solutions and services in this nation,” Tony Westaway, general manager for Datec (PNG) Ltd, said last night at the launching of the expo at Crowne Plaza.
Datec employs 215 Papua New Guineans both here and in Lae and have the largest number of certified staff ranging from networking to engineering that are well qualified and certified to International standards.
“We take our obligation for training most seriously and see that another of our strengths is the quality of our people.”
Datec provides a diverse set of solutions and services and its business continues to evolve to meet or anticipate changing business needs.
“Four new evolving areas of our business include project management whereby we now have a team of well sought after practitioners, who have managed significantly complex projects in both the government and private sector,”
“We understand the convergence of new technologies and are equally confident in the provision integrated IP networking solutions and in conjunction with a joint venture partner in concept we have developed a payroll services bureau which will be launched today (last night) at the expo.”
And lastly, Datec uses oracle databases to capture and manage customer information through geographical interfaces structured on satellite provided imaging.
“I thank our business partners for taking their time out of busy schedules to join with us over the next two days to present what will prove to be the most dynamic and innovative ICT exposition that Papua New Guinea has seen,” Mr Westaway said.
The environment in which Datec operate in PNG was “extremely challenging, demanding and rewarding”, he said.
