Stingerz ready to take on Grizzlies

NEW team Stingerz are bracing for a tough match tomorrow against Airways Bears in the Digicel Port Moresby women’s softball competition.
The match on diamond one at 2.00 pm is expected to capture a large crowd given the form of Stingerz who defeated Wantoks 10-9 last weekend in round one.
The Bears’ form could be suspect after a 12-all draw against premiers Gazelle last weekend, and they (Bears) would need to lift their game if they are to register their first win of the season.
Stingerz would rely on pitcher Selina Karai and catcher Helen Bunbun to dictate proceedings with their combination to restrict Bear’s experienced sluggers of Wendy Katusele, Wendy Sogai, Nadia Bais and Joyce Inguba.
However Stingerz will also have to bat well against Bear’s pitcher and PNG international Maggie Josephs if they are upstage the grizzlies who are renown for their fighting spirit.
Yet the inclusion of Lae’s representative player and PNG short-stopper Shirley Tomangana into the Stingerz line up could be the tonic for an upset.
Malangan play Dolphins on Sunday to wrap up the women’s draw.
