Leaders should be like Mandela

LEADERS come in different guises; they can be compassionate, authoritarian, visionary, resilient or inspirational.
But my definition of a leader is someone who can lead our people from their heart.
I would prefer leaders of Nelson Mandela’s calibre, a classic example of a leader who led South Africa as its first post-apartheid president.
He was absolutely perfect in guiding South Africa through transition from dictatorship to democracy.
He sacrificed his life for his people and many all over the world see him as a shining beacon of leadership.
Are our politicians portraying this simple, but similar leadership of Mandela?
In other words, the leaders we chose should sacrifice their time, life, money and efforts for their districts, provinces and country.
They should no have personal motives.
PNG does not need leaders that “talk big but little action”.
Mandela is an introvert person but his social, political and economical contribution to South Africa boosted his leadership and made him a great leader to be commemorated by many followers.
He was not a person who talked big but a man of integrity and action, especially in terms of tangible development.
I believe that leaders who possess Mandela’s calibre will make a great difference to our nation and be an inspiration to all Papua New Guineans.
