Balob suspends 146 students

By PETER MIVA
MORE than 100 students from the Balob Teachers College have been suspended from classes as of this morning following the failure of their corporate sponsors to settle more than K240,000 in school fees.
Their fate was decided last Friday at a meeting by the college executives made up of principal Kautil Mileng and deputies Peter Seth and Mulung Kumed.
The executives gave the sponsors of the 146 students until the end of this week to settle the bills or their students will be forced to leave.
The sponsors also risked having their corporate agreements terminated.
Among those affected are 38 diploma students who have less than a month left on their studies.
The college was forced to take this action in order to stay open. Mr Mileng said the college owed several suppliers substantial amounts in unpaid debt.
