33 graduate with certificates in trade store management

TRADE stores are a popular form of business in many community mine continuation agreement regions of Western province.
But this form of business is a struggle for those who have embarked on the idea. And Ok Tedi Mining Ltd was fully aware of the hassles associated with trade store management.
Recently, through its economic programmes department, the miner invited facilitators from the renowned Skul Bilong Stua Kipa in Wewak, East Sepik province, to conduct an inaugural retail management training for participants from the CMCA regions.
Thirty-three participants from Nupmo, Upper Tutuwe and Ok Tedi mine villagers received certificates after two weeks of intensive training.
It was an eye-opener for most of them.
Facilitator and manageress of Skul Bilong Stua Kipa Gillian Sapak said the training basically provided book keeping, stock control and retail management to participants to help them run their stores.
Mrs Sapak was assisted by her fellow facilitator Joachim Salin.
At the graduation ceremony held last Sept 14 in Kiunga, participants spoke highly of the course and acknowledged OTML for the opportunity.
