ZILU Scientific West of Lae is the champion soccer club of the Momase regional after beating fellow Lae team Lae Biscuit Poro 2-1 in the two-day championships in Madang yesterday.
The champion women club is PNG Power of the Lahi competition which accounted for Bara of LFA 3-1 in a penalty shootout in the grand final.
West drew first blood after Poro were forced into its own territory and striker Soku Singi received a good cross from striker Masi Mathew to slam home their opening goal.
Poro scored the equaliser through striker Esa Nasa just before fulltime when they applied pressure onto the West backs and kept them pinned in their own territory and allowed the goal mouth to remain free.
West scored the winning goal in the first ten minutes of the extra time through Mathew Manka and then defended strongly in the second half of the extra time to walk away winners.
