Trio nabbed in WHP

FOUR foreigners were picked up in a joint immigration-police operation in Western Highlands for alleged violation of immigration and labour laws.

The three Chinese nationals and Filipino have been operating a trade store and lotto outlet.
They have been charged under Section 16(1) (a) of the Migration Act.
Sources said Lin Guang of Fujian province in China entered PNG in 2004 using a tourist visa and subsequently obtained a work permit which allegedly expired last Dec 26.
He was arrested at his lotto outlet in Banz district on Sept 27.
Early this month, Li Shan Qiang, also from Fujian, was picked up from his lotto outlet in Kudjip.
The sources said he entered the country in 2003 on a work permit to work with CNZ Investment at 17 Mile in Central province.
His visa is believed to have expired early this year.
Xin Jiang Zu, another Chinese national from Fujian, was also operating a lotto outlet when police detained him in Minj district on Oct 1.
He is believed to have entered the country in 1988 to work with Jaspar Trading in Port Moresby.
Aldamia Emmanuel Rabia was picked up from his trade store at Kawi village in South Waghi district on Oct 1 when he reportedly failed to produce a valid visa.
The Mt Hagen District Court will decide today whether to grant them bail.
