Distressed by trouble at Tambul H. School
AS one of the pioneer students of Tambul High School, it is
very distressing for me to read yet about another fight in the school.
It was once a peaceful school which has given me the best in life.
I just cannot understand why some students must get into another fight to
destroy the reputation of this school.
I wonder if there really is a governing council and where are the teachers
and school administration?
I am not surprise the broken plate incident got out of hand because I
believe there were few or no teachers at all at the time of the incident.
When I visited the school early last month, there were hardly any teachers
around and all the students were wandering about the school, doing nothing.
This also brings to my main concern – the final year students who will be
sitting for their examinations this year.
Will there ever be any examinations?
I think all parents would agree with me that we do not want to see four
years of paying fees go down the drain. What a waste of effort and financial
resources.
While we agree that students must abide by rules and disciplinary
procedures, the most important is the role of the school board,
administration and duty teacher at that time to get such incidents under
control.
It is also a shame to see the local warriors getting involved in this
matter. They should realise that over the years, they have benefited a lot
economically by selling scones and other food products to the under-fed
students.
Most of these students used to be, and I believe, still are non-Tambuls, who
come from resource rich Hagen central, Waghi, Nebilyer and Baiyer, who pour
a lot of money into the local economy.
I have always boasted a lot about Tambul High School as one of the best,
both nationally and internationally.
It is my greatest desire that the school gets back on track soon to give the
best chance possible to those future doctors, lawyers, engineers,
accountants, teachers and many more professionals.
