Officers urged to use White Paper

THE community-based Correction officers in the Justice Department have been urged to use the White Paper as a road map to achieve their vision in three to five years time.
Provincial heads of CBCs are currently in Port Moresby for a week-long Operational Planning workshop to identify programmes to run in their provinces to rehabilitate persons released from prison.
Acting secretary for Justice and Attorney-General Polume Kiele told participants to reflect on the workshop’s theme Striving to serve the Justice Sector Reform and plan the way forward.
Ms Kiele said some results achieved this year included the diversion of about 200 juveniles by police or the courts from the juvenile justice system through mediation and counselling.
