Tari to plead guilty
 

STEVEN Tari, also known as “Black Jesus”, is expected to plead guilty to five sexual charges when he appears before the Madang National Court today.
Pita Vagi, the associate to Justice David Cannings, said Tari would admit to sexually assaulting some girls during his cult practices.
It is understood that Tari, who is being held at the Beon Correctional Institute, faces another two similar charges.
Tari was apprehended by Matepi villagers and handed over to the police last March 13.
Subsequently, 23 girls provided statements to police, saying that they were sexually abused by Tari.
Justice Cannings, who is based in Kimbe, West New Britain, is currently on court circuit in Madang.
