139,000 to sit for final exams

AN estimated 139,000 Grade 8, 10 and 12 students will be sitting for the final national examinations this year.
Of the examinees, 10,064 Grade 10 students are sitting for the school certificate examinations which began on Monday and will end on Friday.
This will be followed by the higher school certificate examination for 34,198 Grade 12 students scheduled on Oct 22-26.
Meanwhile, 95,000 Grade 8 students are expected to sit for the certificate of basic education examination from Nov 6-9.
Secretary for Education Dr Joseph Pagelio is encouraging students who will be sitting for the final examinations to study well and do their best.
“I encourage all students to study hard and ensure that you do the examinations to the best of your ability.”
Dr Pagelio said examinations were important as they determine the future of each student.
Results from the examinations will also determine whether the students can move on to the next level of education or not.
