PNG and Brazil will be able to forge a closer relationship by concluding a bilateral arrangement for technical and development cooperation soon, Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane said yesterday.
Sir Paulias said the two countries had a lot to share in terms of open exchange of views and technical expertise.
He made the remarks at Government Houses in response to the presentation of credentials by Brazil ambassador Fernando De Mello Barreto Filho.
Mr Filho, while presenting his credentials from Brazilian president Luiz Ina’co Luila da Silva to the Governor-General said the president had asked him to explore the possibility of concluding a bilateral arrangement for technical and development cooperation.
Sir Paulias said he acknowledged the president’s sentiments and desires which were parallel with the PNG Government’s.
He said it would pave the way for increased cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest such as sports, agriculture, health, education, tourism and renewable energy (bio-fuel technology).
