MP sets rules on spending

By ZACHERY PER
ALL spending and funding for electoral development projects in Lufa, Eastern Highlands province should strictly be consistent with plans of the joint district budget priority committee (JDBPC).
Lufa MP Yawa Silupa made this known last week soon after the Court of Disputed Returns dismissed an election petition filed against him at the Waigani National Court.
Mr Silupa was re-elected for the second consecutive term and currently the chairman of the Lufa JDBPC.
He is also the Parliamentary Secretary for Health and HIV/AIDS.
Mr Silupa said Lufa was one of the peaceful districts in the province with the potential to prosper.
He said all funds coming to the district would have to be spent according to the district’s five-year development plan which was to be launched soon.
Mr Silupa said a big slice of the fund would be spent on health, education, transport, economic, law and order.
“The planning and implementation of these programmes is covered under my five-year development plan,” he said.
Mr Silupa added that it was hoped to benefit the people and future generations.
He called on educated Lufians, leaders and citizens to mobilise resources and co-operate in the delivery of basic services to the people.
