Bulolo road work to roll out

THE Bulolo district road maintenance programme will now roll out into the remote areas of the district with the purchase of K1 million worth of earthmoving plant.
The programme was launched last week at Mumeng, Bulolo district, Morobe province, by Bulolo MP Sam Basil and Markham MP Konie Iguan.
The equipment included one backhoe, one bulldozer and two dump trucks which will carry out maintenance work on the Patep-Mumeng road, Middle and Upper Watut, and Wau to Garaina roads.
Mr Basil told a packed crowd that the equipment would be used to pave way for other services including education, health and other infrastructure developments including the linking of rural villages.
“The road network will definitely improve the lives of the people in the remote villages where they will have access to sell their coffee and other vegetables at the market in Bulolo, Wau or even in Lae,” he said.
This month, he commissioned a water supply study to be conducted by the PNG Waterboard for Wau and Bulolo townships.
Twelve water projects were earmarked for the communities in the Bulolo electorate.
Mr Basil saw the condemned Wau police facilities including the lock-up and decrepit staff houses, placating despairing families that the police department and the Minister for Internal Security will be called on to fast track the government’s commitment to renovate the facilities.
He left them with assurance help wasn’t far off.
