THE annual Momase Cup soccer championships scheduled for Wau on Nov 7-11 has been deferred to next March. Staging it now would not give it much breathing space before the PNG Games from Nov 16-24.
Wau Soccer Association president Shem Farock said, “We had to protect the interest of the participating teams and have moved the championships date to allow the teams more time to prepare for better,” Farock said.
“Many clubs have spent a lot of money to attend the recently completed Momase regional club championships in Madang and the PNG Games date is scheduled on the same week as the Momase Cup and we had no choice but to move the championships to early next year.”
