Margarina to be upgraded to township

THE rundown and abandoned Margarima government station in the Southern Highlands would be upgraded to an integrated township and district headquarters for the Komo Margarima people.
Local MP Francis Potape announced this last Saturday in Margarima at his first ever official visit here.
The electorate was vastly scattered with no proper district headquarters. Margarima, made up of Upper Wage and Lower Wage local level government areas, is located further east while Hulia LLGC is in the centre and Komo LLGC stretched further south-west.
Mr Potape, who was given a rousing welcome by the huge crowd, said he would use whatever funds he obtained from the National and provincial government, donor agencies and funds from the lucrative hydro-carbon projects in the electorate to ensure Margarima township development plan is realised in the next five years.
Mr Potape said although Margarima was host to rich oil and gas projects like Hides, Moran, South East Mananda, Juha and Angore, it did not have the basic infrastructure needed by the people.
