Sobou make it to Lahi Soccer grand final

By JASON SOM KAUT
GLAMOUR club Sobou FC, who failed to live up to expectations during the recent Momase club championships, has secured the first spot for this weekend’s premier league grand final clash in Lahi Soccer.
Sobou shrugged off a late fightback by Unitech in the final quarter to win 3-1 in the grand final placing play-off in front of a packed Telikom Training College field crowd.
Unitech struggled in the early minutes to settle into the game while Sobou started strongly.
Sobou’s efforts were rewarded with a spectacular goal. A foul just into the right side of Unitech’s half gave Sobou a free kick that Solomon Islander Clifford Wate headed over the defence for a team mate to boot the stunning goal.
That jolted Unitech from its slumber as it increased pressure on Sobou. As much has it tried, the Sobou defence stood firm.
A well coordinated play in the centres set the stage for Sobou to score again before the break.
After the break Unitech stepped up the pressure. A miss from a good left cross, was made up for with a free kick that was headed in to trail 1-2.
Some good ball work saw Unitech penetrate the Sobou goal mouth twice but failed to convert.
Sobou counter-attacked from one of Unitech’s forays to wrap up the game 3-1.
