Gazelle women thrash Wantoks

BEE Hive Gazelle gave their sponsor a morale-boosting win when they thrashed BRE Wantoks recorded an 8-2 thrashing of arch rivals BRE Wantoks in yesterday’s clash of the weekend in the Digicel Port Moresby women’s competition.
The sponsor and Bee Hive owner, Bernard Fong, sat through the match and gave the support which the Antelopes needed to perform at their best for the big win.
Consistency in batting was what Gazelle relied on as they recorded five unanswered points by the fourth inning while Wantoks struggled to score.
Maggie Sam and powerful hitting Jessica Tonga scored the first points in the first inning, followed by Rose Ire and Nawasa Pilak in the second inning before Pala Manet scored the extra in the third inning.
Both teams were unable to score points in the fourth inning.
Gazelle continued with their consistent batting form when they sealed their victory in the fifth inning with another three runs through Jessica Tonga off a safe hit by Robertha Kaul, followed by Jenny Pilak and Kaul courtesy of fielding errors.
Wantoks scored their consolation points at the bottom of the sixth inning through Mathilda Moe and Kolish Banam.
In other weekend matches Stingerz thrashed Malangan 8-0 yesterday, and Dolphins defeate Admiralty 13-6 on Saturday.
