AT the close of nomination on Oct 17, a total of 21candidates have nominated for the Rai Coast Open by-election.
Madang’s election manager Kila Ralai told The National that of the 21 candidates, 19 contested in the general election in June.
He said all the candidates were men.
Mr Ralai said that preparations for the by-election, from Nov 10-16, were underway.
Posters of candidates and ballot papers including materials for the LPV awareness are being printed and should be ready by next week.
The provincial election office is looking at sending about 20teams of election officials into the area to conduct the awareness programme.
The return of writs is on Dec 7.
