THREE Papua New Guinean bodybuilders leave today to take part in the World Bodybuilding championships in South Korea.
Joe Kulame, Jack Viyufa and Wilfred Kurua will participate in the 61st World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships in Jeju city on Oct 25-29.
PNG will be up against more than 1,000 bodybuilders from 100-plus countries.
“This is the first time in 13 years that the sport has been strong enough to send athletes to this level of competition. It would not be possible without major sponsor Trukai Industries,” team manager Randolph Albrecht said yesterday.
This will be the second for PNG in at the world championships after China in 1994 when Viyufa and John Waglep contested.
The PNG Bodybuilding Federation (PNGBBF) has all the confidence in the team led by Viyufa succeeding at the high competition level.
