West Papuans charged

By JULIA DAIA BORE
FOUR West Papuans have been charged with the murder of senior magistrate Ivo Cappo in Port Moresby last Saturday.

City police chief Supt Fred Yakasa confirmed that the four men were charged on Tuesday but he declined to reveal their identities.
He said police investigations were still going on to determine whether others were involved in the killing and whether further charges would be laid.
Cappo, 55, was driving home at about 2am last Saturday when he was killed.
It is believed that his car went out of control at Ela Beach and crashed near a campsite of some West Papuans who are demanding that the office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees resettle them in another country.
Reports indicated that several men attacked Cappo with stones and sticks.
A passenger in the vehicle was injured.
