Brown slams public servants for ‘no
sense
of manners’
FORMER member for Gazelle Sinai Brown was disappointed
and ashamed with the manner in which the provincial leaders and senior
public servants treated a Japanese delegation.
Yesterday’s occasion of the ENB provincial tree planting love green day
was delayed for more than an hour, which left the OISCA International
president Dr Yoshiko Y Nikano and her delegation either sitting on the
grass or standing while waiting for the programme to begin.
This prompted Mr Brown to criticise such attitude and slackness of the
public service in the province.
He made the comment with respect to the ENB Governor Leo Dion who was
the only person on behalf of the province to welcome them without much
consideration from the provincial administration public service.
The National understood that the provincial government was supposed to
take lead in organising the event but due to that oversight, the OISCA
Rabaul took over at the very last minute.
Mr Brown said: “I’m ashamed that our visitors waited for more than one
hour and we, the leaders, and the public servants were not there to
welcome them.”
He said the Japanese people every time should be well received because
of their tremendous contributions to the province and the country.
“We must change this attitude and must respect them,” Mr Brown said.
He said ENB should be proud of some huge projects the Japanese
government fully funded such as the Tokua airport, Radio ENB, Nonga Base
Hospital and OISCA.
Mr Dion also raised similar concern and encouraged people to take
special consideration to such visitors.
