Morobe eye top spot
By HAIVETA KIVIA
TEAM Morobe is confident of being crowned the champion province at the third
PNG Games in Lae next month.
Morobe sports advisor Ludwig Waluk Peka said this week that Team Morobe was
preparing well for the games and are finalising their teams to be handed
over to the PNG Games Host Organising Committee for accreditation.
Peka said these included all players and officials in the 17 sports that
make up the games.
He also said that they are also committed to their sponsors and will be
erecting four billboards at popular locations in the city.
The major sponsors will be announced at a later date.
“The billboards will be erected at Morobe Administrations headquarters, Voco
Point, St Pauls and St Mary primary schools,” he said.
Peka said that they also had a strength and condition coaching course for
their coaches last weekend.
“This is to teach the coaches about mental toughness which they must instill
in their players,” he said.
He said the next lot of people to go through a briefing will be the team
managers and that is this on tomorrow. “The team managers will be briefed on
their duty statements,” he added.
Peka confirmed that Team Morobe will be staying at Wagang village, better
known as Sipaia, for the duration of the games.
