Gazelle ready to Bear with rivals in softball

By EKONIA PENI
THE game plan by LBC Gazelle and Airways Bears should reach another level when they clash tomorrow in round four of the Digicel Port Moresby menís softball competition.
Both teams won by big margins last weekend but could not afford to rely on those wins as they prepare to face each other.
Given their respective forms and calibre of players they boast it would be of no surprise if the two teams can spice up each other with a high level of batting display.
Former Bearís skipper, PNG international player and now with Gazelle Dick Bart Junior could be a marked man against his former club.
But dispite this, Bart should receive valuable support from Harry Mathew, Demas Totil, David Micky, Jerry Jolam, Tony Karani, Tony Daple and Colin Mangot to lead in batting for a vital win.
Picthers Nelson Kiap and Patrick Pilak could prove a handful for the Bears regardless which of the two that Gazelle decides to start off with on the pitching mound.
However Bears have always caused upsets when they can focus on the task on hand. And with PNGís international coach Joe Lumaris with them there will be no excuses if Bears cannot win this match.
Lumaris will be relying on Tul Malisa, Lindsay Pulu, pitcher Joe Avuchulas Junior, Luxton Zale, Consie Bais, Brian Lesley and Sam Malum to lead in batting if they are to win. †A close result is on the card with the top batting side to win.
In the 11.00 a.m. clash, Brown Eagles after losing cheaply to SPIA Manolos last weekend should restore lost pride if they can beat an unpredictable Dolphins team.
In the other matches on Sunday, Bullets should expect some opposition from Samurai while competition giants PNG Power and Manolos are expected to thrill supporters when they clash in Sundayís match of the day to top of the weekend.
