PNG in disabled games

THE PNG Disable Team is currently taking part in the two-day Oceania Disabled Sports championships in Lautoka, Fiji.
Speaking from Namoli village just outside Lautoka, head of delegation Sophie Kuasi-Tuna said that PNG team was looking forward for some positive results when the competition starts this morning
She said more than 1,000 disabled people from all over Fiji were invited to be part of the colourful opening ceremony which was officially opened by Minister for Community Development (responsible for sports) Lositu Malani.
Kuasi-Tuna said that Namoli village chief Ratu Jone Bavalu have been very supporting and his village have provided the best hospitality to PNG team.
Sprinter-cum-long jumper Francis Kompaon and John Alisi will start the PNG medal campaign when they hit the field today. Both will go straight into the final, and PNG is likely to pick medals in these two events.
In the afternoon, there will be 100m and 200m heats followed by finals. Kompaon who is a favourite to win the gold in these two track events.
Tomorrow, Joeyln Jeffrey, the only PNG female in the 100m and 200m, will be in finals because there will be no heats.
Kuasi-Tuna said PNG is likely to produce a good results in the 4x100m and in the afternoon, they are likely to play standing volleyball followed by the closing ceremony.
PNG Team is expected to return on Sunday.
