THE disaster affected areas of the Finschhafen have received K10,000 worth of food and other relief supplies.
The Salvation Army had gone to their aid through the Red Shield Appeal to business houses and individuals in Lae and Port Moresby.
“The Salvation Army is very pleased to support the victims of the recent landslide and flood disaster in Finschhafen and I would like to express my thanks to the business houses in Lae and Port Moresby for supporting the Red Shield Appeal,” Major Sere Kala, divisional commander for the North Coastal Division of the Salvation Army said yesterday.
Major Kala said the relief supplies would be air-lifted on a MAF aircraft chartered by the Morobe provincial disaster office.
He said he was happy with the provincial disaster coordinator Roy Kamen for his quick action to deliver the relief supplies to the people of the Pindiu.
A total of 50 trukai rice bales, 50 flame flour bales, 100 tents and 500 plastic water containers will be given to the people.
“These funds we use in such cases are from funds raised locally through the Red Shield Appeal,” Major Kala said.
