Mosquito nets dispersed to reduce malaria infections

By ALISON ANIS
IN the hope of reducing the growing number of malaria patients each year and promote healthy living standards within communities, Rotary Against Malaria and Hope Worldwide PNG have engaged in the distribution of treated mosquito nets at the Nine Mile area.
Yesterday, volunteers from the Rotary Against Malaria and Hope Worldwide PNG distributed 1,000 treated mosquito nets to 500 families living at McGregor including the Morobe and the Makana Blocks at Nine Mile area outside Port Moresby.
Tope Adepogibi of Hope PNG said the distribution of bed nets was in line with the house to house survey carried out by a team of volunteers in the area three weeks ago.
“From the survey we have decided to give two mosquito nets per five people,” she said.
