Open invitation to snooker challenge
MEMBERS of the Port Moresby
Country Club are been invited to participate in a club open snooker handicap
competition set for next month.
Club manager John Chan said the response has been overwhelming and they may
even start earlier than the anticipated date of Nov 12. A minimum of 32
players is needed before the competition starts.
But by last Thursday, 34 players had nominated and the number was expected
to swell.
However, each player will have to pay the entry fee of K50 before they are
eligible to compete.
A K1500 prize has been set aside for the winner with the runner-up to get
K750.
Semi-finalists will receive K300 each, quarter-finalists K200 and the top 16
to get K100 each.
Top seed will get K200 and the player with the highest break over 48 will
get K300.
Players will get a complimentary handle of beer before their match.
Chan said the club wanted to maintain interest in the game following the
successful staging of the Pacific MMI Snooker Handicap Challenge from Oct 12
to 21.
Meanwhile, the Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association will
officially close its 2007 season with the presentation night which is
scheduled for November 24 at the Lamana Hotel. A week before that is the
Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association Annual General meeting.
