Paraka Lawyers set to retain Touch crown

TWO-TIME defending champions Paraka Lawyers Team One are aiming for their
third consecutive title when the Annual Lawyers and Accountant Touch
Football challenge takes place tomorrow at Sir John Guise Stadium in Port
Moresby.
The defending champions will be among 28 teams from the law and accounting
firms in Port Moresby who have confirmed to take part in the one-day
football challenge.
The team will be banking on Davai Niara, Bobby Pasi, Philip Misikaram,
Steven Vaga, Jeffrey Kolowe and their women players such as Brendina Nakin,
Joyce Inguba and Ethel Narua.
These players formed the cream of Paraka Lawyers Team One which should be
unstoppable during the tournament tomorrow.
According to organising committee chairman Kepson Pundu, the 28 teams are
grouped in four pools.
The defending champion will be up against Auditor- General, Makena Geno,
Delloite (white), Gadens Lawyers, Blake Dawson Waldron and Mirupasi Lawyers
in Pool A
Pool B has Young & Williams Lawyers, Kelly Naru & Liria Lawyers, Kange
Lawyers, Posman Kua Aisi Lawyers, Magisterial Service (1), Deloitte (Blue)
and DFK Hill Mayberry and Bradshaw.
Pool C is made up of Paul Paraka Lawyers Two, Fairfax Lawyers, Auditor
General Two, Allen Arthur Robinson Lawyers, Elemi Lawyers, Magisterial
Services (2) and KPMG (1) while in Pool D, KPMG (2), Auditor Generals
(silver), Sinton Spence, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Rageau Manu Kikira
Lawyers, Warner Shand Lawyers and Kassman Lawyers.
Pundu said the mixed competition must have three women players in all teams
in any one time.
The teams will be competing for the K2,000 prize money and the shield while
the runner-up collects K1,000 and Cup while K500 and the Bowl goes to
third-place getter.
Pundu expressed his gratitude to Trukai Industries, Gateway Hotels and all
other minor sponsors who have come out to assist the Lawyers and Accountants
in their footy challenge.
