Central looking for more athletes for Lae
TEAM Central is looking for interested athletes who are keen
to represent Central Province at the upcoming PNG Games in Lae next week.
According to Pole Vagi of Team Central, those who are interested are advised
to come for a special meeting at Sir John Guise stadium for time trial.
After the time trial at 8am, a team will be selected to represent the
province.
Due to limited number of participants in each event, Team Central are doing
time trial to select their best athletes.
Hockey finals on
SUNAM scored the trifecta in the preliminary finals of Port Moresby hockey
competition preliminary finals when all its three team secure the grand
final berth.
Sunam was luckier in the women’s competition when both A and B grade teams
book the grand final spot for this weekend while they have the A grade team
in the men’s grand final.
In the women’s A grade preliminary final, Sunam proved too good to beat
Hornibrook United 4-1 while in the men’s game, Sunam survived a fight back
by Bismark to walk away victory one-nil.
Sunam women will now meet PNG Gardener in the A grand final while Sunam
takes on archrival Hornibrooks United in the men’s A grade final.
In the B grade, Rapatona Rebels thrashed Hornibrook United 2-0l to stay in
the premiership hunt last week.
The Rebels will now take on Sunam in the finals.
And in the men’s B grade final, Hornibrook United who defeated PNG Gardener
2-0 will now take on Rapatona Rebels in the finals on Sunday.
