Do away with wantokism
OUR public machinery is infested with recycled public servants, which result
in poor delivery of goods and services. This practice is common in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade where public servants from other
departments, who are normally from same ethnic group, are recruited through
wantokism. I would appreciate if Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari looks into
this matter and correct the situation. I believe this organisation should be
filled with educated people from the four regions and not from one region.
More importantly, discourage recruitment of old officers from other
departments and agencies into this department. We have young officials who
are trying to progress and have bright ideas to develop this nation but have
been blocked by these conservative and unproductive officers. – Silent

Why Manus an exception?
AS the school fees continue to climb higher, from primary to the tertiary
level, our poor parents will continue to suffer as they struggle as they
ensure their children get education. Several provincial governments are
known to assist parents to pay school fees. I am sure a lot of parents in
Manus will be happy if the provincial government does that too, especially
in assisting at the tertiary level. As such, I urge Michael Sapau and Job
Pomat to do something to help our poor papa na mama. – Tru Manusian, via

Unfitting for a PNG rep
I AM shocked with the behaviour of our so-called rugby union players. It is
very embarrassing to see people who represent PNG behaving in a very
disturbing manner. Our kids look up to you and wish that someday they can be
like you. You are celebrities in PNG and yet you behave like an idiot and an
animal. You should hang your head in shame and face the music. – Manu,

Players’ behaviour shameful
THE behaviour of the two rugby players is really disgusting and shameful. It
reflects badly on their teammates, officials, sponsors and the code. As a
Southern Highlander, I am very annoyed and call on the authorities to deal
with this issue immediately. The players involved should face the full force
of the law. – Yope Pima, via email
Sick of rape reports
I AM literally sick of reading the frequent rape cases in both our daily
papers. I am even more disgusted at the men who are involved. If it has not
been mentioned before, the death penalty must be implemented to deter
potential perpetrators. These animals do not deserve to be called human
beings. Castrate them if there is no capital punishment. – Disgusted,
