Nautilus first to explore seafloor for mineral deposits

NAUTILUS Minerals is the first exploration company in the world to commercially explore sea floor for deposits of copper, gold, silver and zinc.
Nautilus country manager Mel Togolo told a mining conference in Port Moresby yesterday their company has explorations only in Papua New Guinea.
Mr Togolo said Canadian-based Nautilus has 18 approved licences for exploration and 17 exploration applications yet to be granted by the Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) covering target areas in the Bismarck and Solomon Seas offshore PNG.
The miner will use a vessel, mining equipment and barges for an offshore mining project and a processing plant onshore for conventional mining and processing plus marine loading and off-loading.
Mr Togolo said the company was currently doing explorations on drilling, geophysics, and sampling of the environment at its current exploration sites offshore PNG.
