Fourteen enlist for Corporate Nines challenge

A TOTAL of 14 teams have confirmed that they will take part in the inaugural Corporate Nines Rugby League challenge starting at Lloyd Robson Oval, Port Moresby, tonight.
Managing director of Sportzevents Limited Ivan Ravu said all the teams are ready to fire tonight when the competition kicks off.
Ravu said this yesterday while accepting two cheques from Nambawan Supa (formerly POSF) and PNG Fire who were the latest team to pay their nomination fee.
He said that basically the whole concept is to have the workforce taking part in such activities to improve their healthy way of living.
“A lot of employees, including the middle management and top level management personnel, hardly find time to socialise through such sports, the Corporate Nines is to help them come down and do some exercise.
Apart from playing, participating teams would be given chance of promote their products by setting up stalls at the playing grounds.
Team leader administration Claire Wutt and PNG Deputy Fire chief Timothy Eu presented their nomination fee to Ravu separately in a small ceremony at the PRL club house yesterday.
Ms Wutt said apart from caring for the future of its contributors, it is also taking care of its employees by encouraging them to take part in such sporting activities to keep themselves fit.
Wutt, who is also in-charge of healthy well being programme of Nambawan Super employees, said they decided to nominate to promote healthy living among their staff and the people around them.
She said she commended Sportzevents company for initiating this initiatives stating that it is a good idea.
Meanwhile, there would be a small fee of K3 charged for non-players and officials at the grand stand.
The only entrance during the match would be through the main games at the grand stand and no other games.
