Bullets aimed at Airways Bears

By EKONIA PENI
AIRWAYS Bears could be in for a tough time on Sunday if sleeping giant killers Bullets can produce their best in round five clash of the Digicel Port Moresby men’s softball.
Never during the past seasons that the Bears have suffered greatly until this season when pitcher Apisai Guguna and skipper Dick Bart Junior walked out on the club.
Guguna is now pitching for Brown Eagles and Bart Junior is with LBC Gazelle.
However, Bears have always had stand-in pitcher Joe Avuchulas Junior who has been doing well.
His combination with catcher Lindsay Pulu in the past four matches had been commendable. And if they can maintain that form by restricting the opposition from scoring easy points then Bullets could bite their own bullets if they take Bears lightly.
However, Avuchulas, Pulu, Tul Malisa, Brian Lesley, Consie Bais and Sam Malu must lift their batting display against Bullets’ pitcher Booby Benson who is capable of strikeouts and could be devastating if taken lightly.
Likewise, Bullets have not yet given the right batting back-up required to complement the efforts of Benson.
In tomorrow’s match, Brown Eagles should beat Samurai.
In the other matches on Sunday SPIA Manolos should be confortable over Malangan, LBC Gazelle should be able to edge Kopex and PNG Power should beat Dolphins.
