3 PX Fokkers’ wings ‘clipped’

THREE Fokker 100 aircraft became unserviceable since last Saturday due to technical defects.
This caused several delays and cancellation of four flights last Saturday.
Air Niugini chief executive officer Wasantha Kumarasiri has apologised in a statement to the travelling public for the inconvenience caused.
He said the management had expected to get two aircraft serviceable by yesterday, while the aircraft which had developed the engine defect in Hoskins, West New Britain would require two weeks to rectify.
“This aircraft will be stationed in Hoskins until it is repaired, subject to further tests to be carried out,” he said.
The flag carrier, as a result of the situation, has requested the understanding of the travelling public until service returns to normal.
