Wewak fishery project starts

THE design for a proposed Wewak fish market and jetty has been completed and work will now enter the next phase.
Representatives from the Government and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a document last week confirming the design.
Mosilayola Kwayaila, the National Planning and Monitoring Department’s director of aid policy and coordination, thanked the Japanese government for continuing to support PNG’s development projects.
He said the project would benefit many people.
National Fisheries Authority acting managing director Sylvester Pokajam said they would continue to work closely with the department, JICA and the East Sepik provincial government to ensure the project’s success.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Takahiro Yokota, JICA’s assistant resident representative, Ichiro Mimura and the JICA’s team leader in the project.
