Games village is slowly shaping up

CLEARING and construction work on shelters near the Wagang village beachfront for Team Morobe is progressing very well and is expected to be competed by next Friday - in time for the contingent to move into their village to prepare for the PNG Games.
Team Morobe General Team Manager Tokey Mambare carried out an inspection on the village and was pleased with the progress of the construction work and said the contingent should move into their village next Friday a week prior to the start of the PNG Games.
“I’m pleased with the cooperation of Wagang villagers and thank them for allowing the 600 plus athletes and officials from Team Morobe to use their resource centre as the Team Morobe’s village for the duration of PNG Games this year,” Mambare said.
Wagang village coordinators Nadu Nelson (chairman), Galang Emko, Tobias Wandu, Malac Tabi who coordinated and organised the clearing and construction work on erecting all the shelters for the athletes said they were happy to accommodate Team Morobe at their village resource centre.
“We have organised and coordinated the entire village to carry out the clearing work and constructed the shelters at the beach front resource centre for the athletes to use during the duration of the 3rd PNG Games,” Wandu said.
“All the work on the shelters, kitchen, pit latrines training areas for both male and female and bathing areas and a temporary bridge across the river will be completed and ready by Friday to allow the athletes to move into their village,” the said.
