ANZ’s K80million expansion

THE ANZ Banking Group (PNG) has embarked on a K80 million expansion programme to install more ATMs and Eftpos machines in the country, managing director Garry Tunstall said.
The programme was the result of “reasonable profit” made by the bank this year with investment being focused mostly on improved technology, he said.
Last month, ANZ installed seven automatic teller machines (ATMs) and 100 electronic fund transfer from point of sale (Eftpos) machines in stores nationwide.
The bank has plans to install 19 more ATMs and 1000 Eftpos machines throughout the country next year while new branches will be launched in Lihir, Bialla, Popondetta, Maprik, Alotau, Jacksons Airport and Harbour City in Port Moresby.
The briefing on the bank’s activities last Monday evening coincided with the welcoming of Tom Doumani, its new head of corporate banking.
Mr Doumani, who recently arrived in the country from Melbourne, was greeted to a warm reception at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Port Moresby.
He takes up the post from Mark Dawson who was moving to Indonesia after serving ANZ-PNG for the past three and half years.
