New UOG Vice-Chancellor urged to maintain good campus spirit

THE newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Goroka Dr Gairo Onagi has been challenged to maintain the good spirit at the campus.

The call was made by acting vice-chancellor Dr Michael Mel during an official handover ceremony last Friday.
Dr Mel challenged both Dr Onagi and pro vice-chancellor administration Dr James Yoko to uphold the good spirit and atmosphere established following the UOG crisis last year.
Dr Mel and out-going acting pro vice-chancellor Dr Jerry Semos were put at the helm of the premier teacher education institution during the UOG crisis and successfully managed the university through until they were replaced last week.
Dr Mel thanked senior managers, both academic and non-academic staff, and the students for their support to him and Dr Semos during their time of service.
“You have been very good examples and role models,” he said.
“You displayed courage, unity and vision, we will give you 110% support,” Dr Mel, who will be the acting pro vice-chancellor academic, said.
Dr Onagi commended both men for their efforts.
