Kagua Erave tertiary students to get K200,000 subsidy

TERTIARY students from Kagua Erave electorate in Southern Highlands will benefit from a K200,000 annual budgetary allocation as subsidies for their school fees next year.
Local MP James Lagea announced this during the electorate’s joint district budget priority and planning committee meeting at Kagua recently.
Mr Lagea said he would ensure that priority was also given to improve Government services and infrastructure development in the electorate, much of which have fallen into a state of complete disrepair in the last 10 years.
He said that he would also ensure that people’s rights to benefit from basic Government services were prioritised.
Mr Lagea also aims to revive the rundown Village Court system to address the rising law and order problems in Kagua Erave.
He said he would prepare the groundwork for the Village Courts to be gazetted, adding that the JDBPPC has budgeted K250,000 annually to pay for Village Court officials uniforms, their K50 fortnightly allowances and constructions of Village Court houses in the area.
He vowed to establish new Village Courts, among others, at Sembirigi, Batri 1 and 2, Galu and Tiripi.
Mr Lagea also urged district public servants and to continue serving the people and vowed to provide support to them.
