Scary story indeed

THE admission by the NCD police chief about the city being overrun by the underworld and the police are ill-equipped to turn the tide is a very scary thought.
I call on NCD Governor Powes Parkop to stop preaching and make this his top priority. Put aside some money and assist the police with the following:
1. Daily spot checks
Place a permanent team of traffic police and transport officers in each major bus stops to ensure that all forms of marketing is banned, anyone found loitering is sent packing, all buses complete their designated routes so that residents get to work and home safely and vehicles that are not roadworthy are taken off the roads. Just the mere fact that you have police presence is itself a deterrent and it does not cost much.
2. Foot patrols
It is a known fact that the Boroko area has basically gone to the dogs. One can only imagine the situation in other suburbs. One effective way to combat this is to deploy teams of policemen for street patrols, especially in Boroko and town. Again, the mere presence of uniformed police is a deterrent to offenders of petty crimes.
3. Law is supreme
Nobody is above the law. I sympathise with your predicament but you must be reassured that the residents are very appreciative of the fact that we do have a police force and we are able to sleep peacefully at night. Justice will prevail.
We must not let this city go to the dogs. All of us must do our part to ensure that law and order prevails in our homes, streets, communities and city.
