THE K4 million allocated under the supplementary budget for Talasea electorate will be used for priority district development plans for six local level governments in the electorate.
Member for Talasea and Deputy Speaker Francis Marus said this during a meeting with the electorate’s joint district priority and budget planning committee (JDP & BPC) last week at the Sarakolok Community School.
The set priority plans were to provide relevant information on four key areas of work and to include necessary budget expense needed to accommodate these district plans.
The four key areas are health, education, law and order and water supply in the rural areas.
“Close to half of the budget allocated for law and order will be used to purchase four new Landcruisers for police in the electorate,” Mr Marus said, adding that Correctional Services would also benefit from the allocation.
According to the MP, a Southern Cross and feasibility study on water reticulation will also be set up under the allocation.
He said rural areas in the electorate would benefit from 100 bore pumps that would be purchased and installed soon.
Mr Marus said he would also look into sports and other areas once funds were made available.
