Car thief dies from loss of blood
A CAR theft suspect died shortly after his stomach was cut by
razor-edged wire while scaling down a high fence in an attempt to escape
from pursuing policemen last Friday in Port Moresby, police said yesterday.
The incident happened in Korobosea after he and four of his accomplices
abandoned a stolen vehicle at about 10pm, police said.
He died an hour later from loss of blood as a result of his stomach injury,
in which his intestines spilled out of the gaping stomach wound.
His companions were immediately arrested while also trying to escape after
scaling the fence.
Police said the victim and his accomplices held up at gun point an off-duty
police officer at Gordon last Thursday night and fled in his vehicle.
Police were on the look out for the vehicle and spotted it at Kila Kila on
Friday night.
They gave chase and the suspects lost control of the car and crashed into a
galvanised fence of a residence in Korobosea.
The suspects hurriedly abandoned the car and scaled a high razor-edged fence
to avoid arrest. Four of them made it while the fifth did not.
His accomplices were now in jail. |
