Rural people in for budget treats

PEOPLE in rural areas will now access credit from the National Development Bank to fund their projects.
This is one of many good news expected from the 2008 Budget.
Finance and Treasury Minister Patrick Pruaitch will hand down the 2008 Budget tomorrow that promises more goodies targeting the rural population.
Deputy Prime Minister Dr Puka Temu indicated last week that there would be allocation in the budget for credit access for the rural people.
He told the National Alliance national convention that the rural people would now have access credit through the National Development Bank.
Dr Temu said the tide must now turn around because the country had the best conditions to accelerate development.
There are also indications that public servants and ordinary workers would have good news with no new taxes and tax cuts under the new tax regime to be announce by Minister Pruaitch.
The source said that K4 million was allocated for each district in the Supplementary Budget last month and a further K6 million would be allocated in the 2008 budget totalling K10 million for each district to use next year.
Minister Pruaitch could not be reached over the weekend to confirm that but last week he hinted of many surprises when he unveils the 2008 Budget.
